Locally:
Activities include: Knitting Teddies for hospitals, police and fire brigade (they use these to help to calm children where necessary); Helping with reading in schools; Supporting needy families in need of a holiday (AFIA); Joining in prayer chains and national campaigns around the world. See below for the latest Mothers' Union National Campaign. The Mothers' Union has 3000 members across the Diocese of Leeds. We also hold monthly gatherings together at Christ Church Oakworth on every first Tuesday in the month, where we tackle campaign themes as well as enjoy chat and fellowship over a cuppa and cake.

Latest global Mothers' Union Campaign
There will be a NATIONAL 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM AGAINST GENDER BASED VIOLENCE.
From November 25th (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) until 10th December (International Human Rights Day). The Oakworth Mothers' Union are hoping to raise awareness in support of this campaign.
Internationally:
Works to serve Christ and financially support initiatives throughout the world. The Mothers' Union works to bring justice and better conditions to where there is a need in our society. Support and improve family life. The MU has over 4000 members across 83 countries worldwide.
Mothers' Union begins every year in a 'Wave of Prayer'. Oakworth met this year 2023 on 9th January at 12noon til 12.30am and continued this important 'wave' with our prayer service, part of the constant 'chain' that the whole of our area's MU groups are taking part in.
"The Mothers’ Union’s 3000 members across the diocese will be lighting candles and praying for fellow members as the diocese takes its turn in a world-wide ‘Wave of Prayer’. From 8th-10th January the Diocese of Leeds Mothers’ Union will be picking up the baton from the Diocese of Norwich and taking part in a continuous 24/7 prayer commitment for branches around the world which began in 1921. Special services will be held in Mothers’ Union branches and diocesan MU members will be asked to particularly pray for the Diocesan link branches in Rwanda, Nigeria, Lesotho and the Soloman Islands. http://www.leeds.anglican.org/news/three-thousand-mu-members-take-part-wave-prayer.
