Our next meeting will be on FRIDAY 10th January at 12.30pm which will be our 'Wave of Prayer' where we join in the 'wave' of other members and branches of the MU as we keep a wave of prayer going continually across the world. This will be followed by a short Annual General Meeting where we will consider our outreach for 2025.

 

Oakworth MU next meet on Tuesday December 4th at 1.30pm.
This will be a Christmas meal out, venue to be confirmed!

MU usually meet on the first Tuesday of every month at Christ Church Oakworth BD22 7PA.

Remembrance this November:
The group have recently marked Remembrace by holding a service with hymns, words and prayers and 2 minutes silence was observed. Candles were lit for those currently embroiled in war and conflict.

MAY: Thanks to Susan Nicholas who came to talk to us about 'Extraordinary Women' Florence Nightingale' and others at our MAY meeting (Tuesday 7th).

JUNE: Oakworth MU had a great time learning about the 'Southern' lights of Antartica as Judith shared with us about her trip.

 

 

MU took their turn in the worldwide annual 'Wave of Prayer' slot, and had a good time of praying for our link dioceses abroad as well as for our own community here at Oakworth.

Oakworth MU had a good time together on Tuesday December 5th at 1.30pm at Christ Church Oakworth where we had a good natter, drank tea, ate stollen and mince pies whilst colouring Christmas cards.

RECENT SERVICES:
RISE UP campaign. On Saturday 25th November 12noon til 1pm.
Alongside other Mothers' Union Members across the Bradford area, we will be raising awareness of domestic abuse as part of the annual international '16 days activism against gender-based violence' campaign. There was a reflective time of prayer vigil with candle light. Banners were held inside the main church.

Rise Up Safeguarding Information (click to view)

AREA SERVICE with banners. On Wednesday October 18th, 2-5 pm at St Barnabus Church , Heaton.
The Theme of the service is to be "A Handout - and a hand up". You are invited to bring your banners - which will be processed and laid at the altar. With refreshments.

OTHER NEWS:  MU members had a lovely trip out to Wensleydale Creamery in hawes in the Yorkshire Dales on 6th June 2023.

We held a short Lady Day service to commemorate the Annunciation, when Mary was told she was pregnant and responded to God's call. Traditionally held on the 25th March.

The outdoor Easter garden display in Christ Church grounds during Holy Week and Easter was a great success! Our visitor Jan who has made many garden displays inspired us to make one!

Quiet Space photos: 7 prayer stations on Jesus' 'I Am' statements. Was well attended by the community who had a cuppa and enjoyed the peace and quiet space and meditative prayerful atmosphere.
