Government and Diocesan Advice Updated 28th March 2020

In the rapidly changing situation regarding the current pandemic, what follows is the information and advice as we know it:

This will be updated and clarified on a regular basis as we are advised by Government and Diocesan sources.

Summary of the main things which affect our communities of Oakworth, Newsholme and Oldfield:

  • Public services of worship will cease.
  • Our church buildings can not remain open.
  • Baptisms and Confirmations must be postponed.
  • Weddings can not take place.
  • Funerals will not take place in church.
  • Banns avoided as they require the presence of a public congregation. A “common licence” could be applied for from the Diocesan Registry.

More specific Church organisation:

  • PCC meetings, the Annual Parochial Church Meeting, Deanery Synods etc. are suspended.
  • Bishop Nick is using his powers to extend the period of office of elected representatives until at least 31st October 2020.
  • Wednesday coffee morning and Eucharist to be suspended.
  • Home groups to be suspended.
  • Monthly Parish Prayers, Mothers’ Union and Living with Loss group to be suspended.
